Jaeger, Miniature Pinscher, Maryville, TN 3/15/2010

Jaeger:  11 month old Miniature Pinscher
Housebroken and up to date on vaccinations, Heartworm tested - negative.
Birthdate:  3/26/09  Neutered Male, Black/tan with uncropped ears and undocked tail, 13 lbs.

Jaeger is still a puppy and he really needs a loving forever home.  He is very social and loves everyone he meets!  He gets along well with other dogs and would love a pack-mate to play with.  He is athletic and very intelligent.  He would do well in agility or flyball as he learns very quickly and is treat motivated.  He already knows some basic obedience such as Sit, Down, Off, Come and Up.  Fetching a squeaky ball is one of his favorite past-times, coming in second only to a good snuggle and belly rub on the couch.  Jaeger is crate trained and bonds very quickly with a caring human being.  He has a low-maintenance coat and beautiful white teeth!  He shouldn't need any more veterinary care for the next year .... when his vaccinations will be due for renewal.

Rehoming fee is $100 and transportation help to the right forever home can be arranged.

Please let us know why you would be the right home for Jaeger.  He's waiting to love you!

Welcome to the Rescue Dog of the Day site!

I decided that this would be a great way to showcase a special dog each day.  I hope that people will submit dogs that need homes. They may be in foster care or in a shelter.  There are some rules for submission:

1.  There must be a good clear photo that isn't 2 feet by 2 feet.  If you don't know how to make your photos smaller, ask a computer person, it's not that hard to resize them.  The photo must be appealing, if it is not a good photo, no one will contact you on this dog.  If the photo is really good, your foster dog has a better chance of me choosing him for Rescue Dog of the Day.

2.  The dog must be in rescue.  That means no breeder placements.  This is not Craigslist.  Go post there.

3.  For the title, I will need the dog's name, breed or probable breed mixture, and location of the dog.

4.  Please type a paragraph or two about the dog, what he likes, what the personality is like, what sex the dog is.  All dogs placed here must be neutered.  No names can be mentioned of the previous owner.

5.  If you are associated with a rescue organization, please give the website.  I will also need your first name and your email address.  I will not post phone numbers.

6.  If there is a rehoming fee, please state what that is.

7.  Please don't send me information, photos, etc in bits and pieces.  Everything must be in one email.

8.  I may place more criteria here as I see it is needed.

9.  Submit your emails to:  corgirescue at hughes dot net

Thank you for submitting your dogs!   If they are adopted, PLEASE let me know so I can put ADOPTED on their special day!

And please feel free to post and to follow us, too!

Simon, Pembroke Corgi - 03/14/2010 Cheboygan, Michigan

Simon
Simon is the corgi at the top of the photo, with the one ear down.  He is what is known as a "fluffy", a long coated corgi (so is the other one in the picture).  Simon is about 8 years old and was given up because of avoidance behaviors he was exhibiting with a toddler.  The kid would not leave him alone.

He has never bitten anyone, but really doesn't like little kids.  He is a happy and busy boy, very friendly and engaged.  He came from a well known kennel in the midwest that does not take back dogs that they have bred.  His background and pedigree is mostly English dogs, that is where he gets those adorable eyes from.  Simon comes when he is called only when he feels like it.  He will need to be walked on a leash and he will need a securely fenced yard.  He gets along with the other corgis here and seems to mostly ignore the cats.  He likes people and is a love sponge.

His greatest joy in life is food and care must be taken to keep the weight off of him.  He loves chew bones and marrow bones which I fill with chicken and freeze for him.  He is good about bathing and grooming.  Simon is neutered.  Simon is very hairy.  Corgis shed, although I feel that there is less actual hair around because he MUST be brushed regularly.  He carries a fairly heavy coat and it will mat.

Rehoming Fee will be a donation to Corgiaid.  See www.corgiaid.org

If you would like to inquire about Simon, please write to kallista at hughes dot net.
